Emily Ballew

MA, LMFTA

Clinician
One of the strongest factors influencing therapy outcomes is the therapeutic relationship. Emily believes in crafting a therapeutic alliance built on authenticity, humor, and trust. She also loves leaning into a client’s strengths and interests. Therapy is a collaborative system. Feedback is always desired. She works with clients to identify and re-author the stories they tell about their lives, and is happy for clients to bring in aspects of culture, religion, disability, and identity.

Her background is in Marriage and Family Therapy, she is passionate about play therapy, and has years of experience working with individuals who have ADHD and ASD and medically complex cases. She cares deeply about providing neurodivergent-affirming services, aligned with up-to-date research and the opinions of those with lived experience. Emily uses connection-based approaches with children and families to address anxiety, anger, aggression, challenging behaviors, and trauma. She also addresses family life transitions such as divorce or navigating a blended family; she works with individual teens and adults using a systemic lens.

Overall, Emily’s therapeutic style utilizes an experiential and narrative lens. She focuses on here-and-now experiences in the therapy space, often incorporating play, art, visualization, music, sandtray, and somatic experiences.
